Volvo Penta offers a comprehensive 3-year global warranty for its marine products, ensuring peace of mind and premium protection for both leisure and commercial customers.
**Warranty Coverage**
Duration: The warranty covers all Volvo Penta branded engines, transmissions, control systems, and accessories for the first three years from the date of delivery to the first retail purchaser.
Major Components: After the initial three years, the warranty transitions to cover major components for an additional two years, providing a total of five years of protection for these critical parts.
Commercial Use: For commercial marine operators, the warranty terms are measured by years or total operational hours, whichever comes first, offering flexibility and assurance tailored to intensive usage.
**Additional Benefits**
Extended Coverage: Customers have the option to purchase extended coverage plans that increase the number of running hours with full coverage for the complete Volvo Penta package. This program covers everything from the helm station, engines, drives, to the propellers, allowing proactive management of potential future repair costs.
Coastal Series Package: For those operating in saltwater environments, the Coastal Series offers enhanced corrosion protection. This package combines anti-corrosion coatings and sensors with all-aluminum engines and closed freshwater cooling systems. It includes a 7-year transferable coverage, ensuring reliability for your saltwater adventures.
How to Claim Warranty Service:
To claim a remedy under this warranty, customers must report any defect to an authorized Volvo Penta dealer as soon as possible and no later than fourteen (14) days from the date the defect was observed. A list of authorized dealers is available at [www.volvopenta.com](https://www.volvopenta.com/en-us/marine/service-and-support/find-a-dealer/). It's recommended to secure evidence of the date when the report was made, such as a copy of a letter or email.
Limitations and Exclusions:
The warranty does not cover defects caused by factors such as abnormal use, misuse, insufficient maintenance, accidents, improper storage, or the use of non-genuine Volvo Penta parts. Additionally, it excludes normal wear and tear, corrosion, and defects resulting from improper installation or modifications not approved by Volvo Penta.
Customer Responsibilities:
Customers are responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and care of Volvo Penta products in accordance with the instructions provided in the Operator’s Manual. Maintaining records of all maintenance services performed, including engine oil and filter changes, is essential. These records may be required to determine warranty coverage on certain repairs and should be transferred to subsequent owners if the vessel is sold.
For a detailed understanding of the warranty terms, conditions, and any potential exclusions, customers are encouraged to consult the official Volvo Penta warranty documentation or contact an authorized Volvo Penta dealer.
